Sanitary Sewer & Water Utilities

Basic information regarding the availability of public sanitary sewers and the location of sanitary sewer leads can be obtained from the Building Department. Applications

Applications to connect to the public sanitary sewer system should be made through the Building Department. Connection and sewer permit fees are available in the Documents and Forms page or by contacting the Building Department.

Septic system permit application forms must be obtained through the Mid-Michigan District Health Department, Clinton County Branch. The Health Department can be reached at (989) 224-2195 and at:

Sewer Contractor Requirements

All bond certified contractors and plumbers making connections to the system shall file a permit bond with the Township in the amount of $10,000 and a copy of their liability insurance policy (providing a minimum of $1,000,000 personal liability protection, $1,000,000 property damage protection and $2,000,000 general aggregate) prior to performing any connections to the system. Southern Clinton County Municipal Utilities Authority (SCCMUA) must also be listed as Additional Insured.

Water

Many areas of the Township are served by a public water system through the Lansing Board of Water and Light (Board). Applications for public water service from the Board should be made through the Building Department. The Building Department will forward the application to the Board on your behalf and the Board will provide you a cost estimate for installing water service for your review and approval.

Upon approval and agreement of payment arrangements between you and the Board, the installation will be scheduled. After the initial application for service is made through the Township, all future inquiries concerning water services should be made directly to the Board of Water and Light Customer Service Department at 517-702-6006.

Private Wells

Areas of the Township not served by the Board of Water and Light will require private wells. Applications for well permits must be obtained through the Mid-Michigan District Health Department, Clinton County Branch. The Health Department can be reached at (989) 224-2195 and at:
