Remy-Chandler Drain Assessment

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that upon motion of the DeWitt Charter Township Board of Trustees, a second public hearing will be held at the Township Hall, 1401 W. Herbison Road, DeWitt, Michigan 48820 on the 25th day of October, 2021 at 7:00 PM to consider and hear objections to the confirmation of a special assessment roll for the purpose of defraying, in whole or in part, the cost of providing maintenance on the Remy Chandler Intercounty Drain within said area. An error was discovered in the original calculation that resulted in an increased per-acre rate for some land owners.  A copy of the revised tentative special assessment roll is on file at the office of the Township Clerk and may be inspected between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The special assessment roll may also be viewed by clicking HEREIf you have any questions, please call the Township at 517-668-0270.

Your appearance and protest at the hearing in these special assessment proceedings is required in order to appeal the amount of the special assessment to the Michigan Tax Tribunal. You may appear in person at the hearing to protest or file your appearance or protest by letter, which written protest must be received by DeWitt Charter Township on or before the date of the hearing. In the alternative, you may designate an agent to appear in person at the hearing for the purpose of protesting said special assessment.

You are further notified that you may file a written appeal of the special assessment to the Michigan Tax Tribunal within thirty (30) days after confirmation of the special assessment roll, if the special assessment roll was protested by you or on your behalf at the hearing held for the purpose of confirming the roll. Special assessments will be added to the winter 2021 Tax Bill. Assessments over $150.00 will be assessed over a three-year period.
