Summer Property Tax Deferment

Qualifying residents of DeWitt Charter Township may be eligible to defer payment of summer taxes to February 14, 2023, if approved. Tax deferments are available to residents with a total annual household income of less than $40,000 meeting one of the following eligibility requirements.

  • 62 years or older person 
  • Paraplegic, hemiplegic, or quadriplegic person 
  • Eligible service person, eligible veteran, eligible widow or widower
  • Blind person
  • Totally and permanently disabled person

Residents can file an intent to defer on or before September 14, 2022. This deferment is for a homeowner's principal residence only. Qualified persons must apply for the summer tax payment deferment each tax season. Download a copy of Form 471 Application for Deferment of Summer Taxes from the township website, under Documents and Forms, or call the Treasurer's Office.
