2020 Firefighter of the Year

The DeWitt Charter Township Fire Department recognizes Firefighter/Medical First Responder Steven Schott as the 2020 Firefighter of the Year. Members of the Fire Department voted for Steven to receive this honor.

Steven joined the Fire Department in December, 2018. He quickly became a Certified Firefighter and later a Certified Medical First Responder (MFR). He is continuing his professional development to become an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).

Steven is always positive and willing to learn. He assists newer members with their training while also helping himself grow as a Firefighter. Steven works hard, trains hard, and continues taking classes to improve himself and the Department.

He is described by the members of the department as very dependable, selfless, eager to learn, a great teammate, and goes above and beyond. DeWitt Charter Township is very grateful and pleased to have Mr. Schott as a member of the Fire Department.

Stuff a Public Safety Vehicle

On Saturday May 8th, the DeWitt Township Police and Fire Departments participated in a “Stuff a Patrol Car” event. Police and firefighters collected over 684 pounds of food and over $200 in money which was donated to the Redeemer Food Pantry of Clinton County located in DeWitt Township. A big THANK YOU to all area residents who donated to the Food Pantry to help with keeping their food supplies stocked and available for those in need.

Peddlers, Solicitors & Transient Merchants

Peddlers, Solicitors & Transient Merchants are allowed in the Township if they have applied for and received a permit from the Clerk’s Office. Our website lists those Peddlers that have an active permit. Peddlers are required to carry identification and the active permit on their person.

Non-profit organizations (ie. religious, public interest groups) are allowed within DeWitt Charter Township without a permit, in compliance with the law.

Flyers that are left at your residence are allowed without a permit. They may not be placed in your mailbox.

Michigan Secure Mobile App

Michigan Secure is a mobile app offered to Michigan residents for free. This app alerts you if your mobile device, tablet, or Chromebook encounters threats, such as a potentially unsecure Wi-Fi network. With each alert, Michigan Secure will offer recommendations on how to address the threat it detected. Best of all, Michigan Secure will not access or distribute any personal information on your device.

The State of Michigan wants to reduce the potential for malicious cyber activities – the easiest way to do this is by offering free protection for all residents. That’s why Michigan Secure is free to download and use without monthly charges, in-app purchases, or ads. You can even receive updates or upgrades free of charge. No credit card fees, checks, envelopes, or stamps required—and no late fees! ACH Autopay is a free service for all Township residents and businesses. ACH Autopay setup forms are available for pickup in the Treasurer’s Office, on the website, or emailed upon request.
